Welcome to the Listel Hotel Whistler. Located in the heart of Whistler Village, this hotel provides comfort, hospitality, and an unforgettable sub-zero adventure. It’s home of the Grey Goose Vodka Ice Room at the Bearfoot Bistro, offering a unique vodka tasting experience.
Debut of Canada’s First Sub-Zero Vodka Room
In February 2010, coinciding with the Vancouver Winter Olympics, the Bearfoot Bistro introduced Canada’s first sub-zero vodka tasting room. Quickly becoming a key attraction in Whistler, it significantly elevated the dining experience at the bistro. The timing of its launch, during the Olympics, drew numerous athletes and visitors, who celebrated their victories and experiences in the unique ambiance of the vodka ice room, further boosting its popularity and charm.
Growth and Evolution
Since its opening, the Vodka Ice Room has seen a steady influx of guests year-round, necessitating an expansion in Fall 2014. We introduced a second tasting bar to cater to its growing fame. The room, maintained at an icy -32°C (-25°F), features walls, bars, and shelves all crafted from crystal-clear ice, with vodka bottles nestled in their nooks. The blue backlit ice panels set a pristine, arctic atmosphere, creating an optimal environment for vodka tasting.
The Ultimate Vodka Tasting Experience
Before entering this frosty vodka ice room, guests are provided with an Arctic Expedition parka jacket to shield them from the extreme cold. Up until 2018, Canada Goose supplied the jackets. Once inside, they are invited to a vodka tasting flight of four shots, including a Grey Goose vodka, understanding the nuances of each selection.
A Journey of Tastes
Bearfoot Bistro’s vodka room hosts lead guests on a tasting journey through a selection of over 50 premium vodkas from around the world. The room, now known as the Grey Goose Ice Room offers an immersive experience, helping guests to appreciate how distillation and filtration influence vodka’s flavour, and how the extreme cold of the room enhances it. The vodka ice room was originally named the Belvedere Ice Room and then the Ketel One Ice Room over the years.
