When you hear “Whistler”, you’re most likely going to think about skiing, snow, and of course, the picturesque village. What might not come to mind, are blossoming flowers, the return of bears in the valley, and enjoying a drink on a sunlit patio. All of the aforementioned are qualities of springtime in the mountains. Now, there’s a lot to see and do during spring so we’ve made it easy to make the most of this special time. Here is the best way to spend a spring day in Whistler.
Morning
Wake up with the sunshine. Open your blinds at the Listel Hotel Whistler and feast your eyes on the snow-capped mountains. It’s not very often that visitors can enjoy a lush valley springing to life with snow still covering the surrounding peaks. What a sight!
Now the first order of the day is coffee! Walk right outside the hotel and take to the village stroll. There are many restaurants to enjoy a tasty breakfast and coffee at but we must recommend stopping at either Mogul’s Coffee, Mount Currie Coffee Company, or if you have a sweet tooth, Purebread. All of these local cafes have delicious specialty coffees and baked goods. Grab one to go and walk the stroll while you sip.
Afternoon
Back to those spectacular views. A wonderful way to really enjoy them is to either go on a hike, mountain biking, or skiing. If you’re really adventurous, this is the only time of year when you can do them all!
Hiking during spring tends to keep to the valley as the snowline is still low. Visit the Train Wreck or head into Lost Lake and enjoy the trails that are right next to the village. Lost Lake also boasts extensive mountain bike trails that are often the first ones clear of snow.
Spring skiing. Where do we even begin? Ask any local and they will gladly tell you that spring skiing holds a special place in their hearts, right close to powder days. What’s so great about it? T-shirts, sunshine, and what we’re about to get into next…aprés
Evening
After spending an incredible day outdoors enjoying the seasonal fun, there’s really only one thing to do and that’s relaxing on a patio! With the arrival of the warmer weather, the patios in Whistler take off. No matter what your taste, there’s a place for you to kick back and enjoy the scenery. Visit the Dublin Gate to sit fireside or if you like to people watch, sit front and center at the Beacon, located right in the heart of the village.
Spring in Whistler is its own kind of magic. The mountains are coming back to life after a long winter under snow. Green begins to take over and the quiet hush of winter becomes laden with the songs of birds returning to the area. Not to mention, there is so much to do, quite possibly more than any other time of the year. So, what are you waiting for? Come and experience springtime in the mountains at the Listel Hotel Whistler.
