Spring Skiing In Whistler

Spring Skiing In Whistler

Spring in Whistler couldn’t be better. The first signs of summer are starting to show with milder temperatures and more sunshine. But with March known to deliver more snowfall than both January and February, there’s plenty of on-mountain fun to be had. Here’s our guide to spring skiing and why March is the ideal time to visit Whistler.

More Time

Longer days mean lifts are now open until 4 pm. You can enjoy a full day on the mountain without having to get up really early to do so. Up for a challenge? Download the Epic Mix app and earn some pins. Ride all the lifts in one day or start racking up the vertical meters. If you want to get the most out of your day, you can upload the gondola from 8.15 am – giving you almost 8 hours of ski time.

Sit Outside

Warmer days mean more sitting outside in the sun. Whistler and Blackcomb mountains offer lots of great patio options. Head to the Umbrella Bar on Whistler Mountain for spectacular views of the valley below. If you want to sit with the sun on your face watching skiers descend on the mountain then The Chic Pea Hut on Whistler and Glacier Lodge on Blackcomb are the places for you.

Test Out Those Park Skills

Want to brush up on your park skills? Use spring as the perfect opportunity to head to the park and try out some jumps. If you are a beginner, the extra small jumps are a great place to start.

Better Views

Whistler views can’t be beaten on a sunny day. With March bringing with it more sunshine, you’ll be spoilt for views. Start the day by heading up Peak Express for a 360 view of the coast mountains. Ride the Peak 2 Peak across the valley and gaze in ore at mountains stretching into the distance on one side and Whistler Valley in all it’s glory on the other. Once you’ve reached Blackcomb, 7th Heaven is the place to see the best of the mountain.

Don’t Forget To Wear Sunscreen

However much you want that goggle tan, don’t forget to keep applying sunscreen. Higher altitude combined with the reflection of the snow means UV rays are stronger.
