Girl’s Night Out in Whistler at the Listel

Girl’s Night Out in Whistler at the Listel

There really is nothing better than a night out with your girlfriends full of great food, fabulous wine and big belly laughs. The right combination of indulgence and relaxation is key to any weekend away with girls.  If you’re like me, and are busy with work and family each week a girl’s night out is an essential activity to re-connecting with close friends. When we were researching a Girl’s Night Out in Whistler, Listel checked all of our boxes. The rates were affordable, it was located in the heart of Whistler Village and it conveniently had one of Whistler’s most notable restaurants, The Bearfoot Bistro PLUS the Ketel One Ice Room and extensive wine cellar. We locked in a date, packed up our bags and headed to Whistler for a night of unfiltered fun.

Upon arriving at the Listel we were greeted by front desk staff Charlotte who was so accommodating and welcoming upon our arrival. We got settled into our room and headed into the Village for the first cocktail of the night, we had a plethora of bars and restaurants within a five minute walk of the hotel and opted for Bar Oso, a new tapas and cocktail bar featuring Spanish-influenced small plates and artistically crafted cocktails.

The Indulgence

After our pre-dinner cocktail we headed to the Bearfoot Bistro for our 8:00pm dinner reservations. Lucky for us, the Bearfoot Bistro had a fbearfoot-bistroive course menu on special for $49 (May is a slow tourist month in Whistler and it’s common for restaurants to offer unreal prices for three and five course meals). The ambiance at the Bearfoot Bistro was indulgently sophisticated and we had the sommelier pick our wines for the evening based on our menu selection (would highly recommend doing this!). The food was creative, favourable and palate pleasing- everything I would have expected from this award-winning restaurant.

In between dinner and dessert we were escorted to the Ketel One Ice Room- the coldest vodka tasting room on the planet. Here we were taken through a vodka tasting and learned the secret of how tasting vodka at sub-zero temperatures removes any impurities for a clean and pure taste. We tried our first shot-ski (a Whistler tradition) and sampled four amazing vodkas including the salted caramel flavour vodka which was my favourite.

After dessert we went down into the wine cellar- the biggest collection of wines I have ever seen! We had a try at sabering a bottle of Champaign. I must admit when a sword was placed into my hand and I was told that it was to chop off the top of the champagne bottle I thought we would be there all night. To my surprise I smoothly sabered the bottle first time around and we enjoyed a glass of champage to celebrate!

I’d like to say that after our dinner at the Bearfoot Bistro we went on to dance the night away at one of the many clubs nearby the Listel but our common sense kicked in (as it tends to do now that we are in our 30’s) and we called it a night.

The Relaxation

The next morning we strolled around the Village, did some shopping and then headed to Scandinave Spa- a Nordic-style spa experience in Whistler. The spa is situated in the most breath-taking location, amongst spruce and cedar forest overlooking stunning mountain vistas. The spa offers a complete treatment menu however we opted for the Scandinavian bath experience. A hydro-therapy treatment where guests go from a hot bath, sauna or steam room, to a cold plunge followed by 15 minute relaxation session in one of their many relaxation areas (the sequence is to be repeated several times).

The benefits of the hydrotherapy include detoxifying the body, stimulating circulation and reducing inflammation. The hot eucalyptus steam room and Finnish sauna were heavenly and the various relaxation areas (hammocks, fireside, and sun rooms) were absolutely divine. The spa has recently opened a new addition which features another sauna, steam room, two more relaxation areas, a yoga studio and a cold plunge waterfall!

Scandinave Spa truly was the perfect ending to the ultimate girl’s night. If you are planning a night or weekend with your girls there is no need to look any further then the Listel Whistler. If you’re planning on going to Scandinave after your night out make sure to book their Melt Package. Alternatively there is a Chill Package if you want to try the Ketel One Ice Room.
