Five Family-Friendly Whistler Activities

Looking for fun activities to do with the family in Whistler? When your day isn’t set on the mountain, explore more of what Whistler has to offer, have you heard about our dogsledding or magical light forest? Here are 5 of Whistler’s favourite family-friendly activities:

1. Dogsledding

Because who doesn’t love dogs?! Enjoy the most Canadian way to explore Whistler’s forests and culture, across our beautiful snowy landscape. Where you will learn amazing facts and skills about our specially-bred Arctic pups. Your family will love the experience of being pulled by a team of exhilarated and happy sled-dogs! 

Please note: Maximum 2 adults and 1 child to a sled, equal to 350lbs (160kgs).

2. Whistler Olympic Plaza 

Our multipurpose stage and grass field park, all-season kids playground, and sweet shops lining the stroll make Olympic Plaza the absolute family hot spot! In the winter, the stage converts into an ice rink for an all-day disco and the field gets constructed into a sliding hill! You can visit Activity Central right next to Dairy Queen for free-to-borrow toboggans. And when it gets cold, warm up with hot cocoa at any of the nearby cafes! 

Ice Skating Rates:

  • $8 skate rental charge, includes admission fee
  • $2 admission fee with your own skates
  • Helmets and skate aids are available at no charge

Please note: Masks are mandatory in the lobby and exit areas

3. Vallea Lumina Whistler

Looking for an after-dinner excursion? Look no further than the fantastical multimedia experience that is Vallea Lumina Whistler! A shuttle bus will take you deep into the Whistler forests to the entrance of Cougar Mountain where you will be immersed in a beautiful and mysterious interactive light show. You and your family will have a great time finding clues and solving puzzles that tell a story of magic and nature, and discover the true spirit of Whistler! 

Please note: Vallea Lumina Whistler requires booking in advance. Rides are provided to and from the location.

4. Indoor Rock-climbing

There are lots to do indoors that will keep your kids entertained and tire them out by the end of the day! The Core in Whistler Village is a fitness gym mainly dedicated to indoor rock climbing, purchase day passes for the fam or if you have other plans, you can sign your kids up for daily group sessions where they learn with an instructor and other kids!

5. Escape! Whistler

You can’t write a list of Whistler’s favourite family-friendly activities without mentioning our very own Whistler’s Original Escape Rooms! Work together to solve clues and unlock the hidden secrets in any of the four intricately designed escape rooms. Escape! Whistler is continually adding and changing rooms to keep you coming back again and again. With a variety of difficulties, families of any age can explore and solve the rooms together! 

Please note: For 2-6 players at a time. Kids 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult (19 years +). Masks are mandatory.
