2017 marks Canada’s 150th birthday and we’ve got to say, Canada you look good! In commemoration of this special anniversary, there are a number of celebrations happening across the country and in Whistler. Special dinners, scavenger hunts, and unique events will be held throughout the year but in particular, around Canada Day on July 1st. In true Whistler fashion, it’s going to be a celebratory month and it’s definitely one to be part of. We’ve got the lowdown on celebrating Canada 150 in Whistler!
The Bearfoot Bistro
The Bearfoot Bistro will be hosting a long table dinner party at the Whistler Golf Club to celebrate like Canada’s founding fathers. The dinner will feature a champagne reception, outdoor feast with confederation inspired menu, live entertainment and an after-party at the Barefoot Bistro!
Tourism Whistler
Tourism Whistler will be celebrating Canada’s 150th birthday all year long. Participate in the following activities to help celebrate!
Scavenger Hunt
Get a hold of a copy of their scavenger hunt, take photos of items on the list and remember to share them on social media, tagging @GoWhistler and using the hashtags #OnlyInWhistler and #Canada150. Once you’ve found 20 or more items, take your scavenger hunt form, and proof of your shared images, to the Whistler Visitor Centre to receive a themed prize!

Fly to Whistler on a floatplane and you might be lucky enough to ride in a red-and-white Otter or Beaver floatplane.

On Canada Day, don your red and white outfit and get ready to party! Festivities include: a Canada Day parade through the Village Stroll, a Canada Day ceremony in Whistler Olympic Plaza followed by a special activities throughout the day. There will also be a free performance by the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra at Whistler Olympic Plaza. The whole celebration will be extra special this year to celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday! Did we mention there will be cake?
